Elaboration: When soon-to-be-Ex-President Bush was speaking at an un-announced trip to Iraq, an Iraqi journalist stood up and threw one of his shoes at Bush while calling him "dog" (doesn't Louise do that everytime anyway), and he managed to duck. The journalist threw his other shoe and this time the guy standing beside Bush helped to block the missile.

Lol. In Iraq that is "close to an ultimate insult" (CNN), as it implies that the person is lower than the dirty shoe. As Mr Brown puts it, "Yes, and in other cultures, throwing a shoe is a sign of respect, affection and love." And go see the pics he put up.
